Now's the time to pick up your reel Regina and Saskatoon as we celebrate 50 years of super 8 film and 15 years since the initial One Take Super 8 Event in Saskatchewan.
We're excited to be hosting 2 events in Saskatchewan, June 4 at the Roxy Theatre in Saskatoon we'll present up to 25 new films, then the next day Friday June 5, we return to the Regina Public Library Theatre for 25 new films. It's an extravaganza of small gauge cinema! So let the petty rivalry begin between the cities as we attempt to get people making new movies to screen before ravenous audiences.
It's 40$ for b/w 50$ for colour, and we're paying artist fees to all participants. Get your forms at PAVED Arts in Saskatoon and the Sask Filmpool in Regina before April 17 and you can pick up your film at the same time and start shooting. All films must be returned by May 11 for processing.
This is all very exciting so please tell your friends, cause who knows how many more chances we'll have left to make these wonderful super 8 films light up the big screen in their original format.
One Take Super 8 Event
The One Take Super 8 Event (OTS8) began in 2000, with 20 filmmakers each shooting a single reel of Super 8 film, which then premiered to an audience without the filmmakers seeing their work beforehand. All the films were shown as shot. No cuts. No splices. The popularity of this non-competitive festival has allowed it to return each year with more filmmakers participating. To date over 1000 films have been created for over 50 One Take Super 8 Events across North America!
